The forgotten areas …

We all know that as we get older our skin loses its elasticity, but why do we constantly have to be reminded of that fact every time we look at our under eye bags and even our once smooth hands! When you realise that you only like yourself in certain lights that don’t emphasise the shadows and you look at your hands and see something that could belong to your parents, it could be time to consider some of the new treatments available for these often forgotten areas.

Tear Trough Treatment

Dermal fillers for men

Bags under your eyes are often associated with Age. The ageing process below the eye is characterised by bone resorption, muscle loss, volume loss and thinning of the skin and results in the development of the Tear Trough. It is not always a lack of sleep that can cause the tired look! Sometimes it can also be genetic, but it doesn’t mean you have to accept this trait.

When concealer and make-up are no longer doing the trick, we can help!

The area around your eye is very delicate so very specific treatments are needed and a light touch with specialist dermal fillers is used. The treatment doesn’t take that long and can last up to 12 months. The effect is to reduce dark circles and the appearance of puffy eyes.

The hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring compound in our skin) is injected to restore facial volume whilst ensuring that the minimal amount of filler required is used. Overfilling is not advisable and we always err on the side of caution at Somerset Cosmetic Clinic. Our patients tell us that they would rather have top ups at a later date than have a face that looks false; realistically we are always looking to help you be the best  ’you’!

Next ageing problem often thought of as untreatable – hands!

Old and young hands

Hands are one of the biggest giveaways on age, you only need to see an adult’s hand against a child’s to realise just what age does to them. Our hands are exposed to all the elements plus chemicals we use daily AND age related loss of volume and elasticity.

Older skin is also thinner and age spots and raised veins become more evident. Hands can give away your age at a glance – especially if you have had treatment to your face and neck , or are just plain lucky with the genes!

Luckily, we have a number of treatments to help rejuvenate your hands, smoothing them and rebuilding the lost volume. At Somerset Cosmetic Clinic we recommend treatments that we believe beat plain fillers ‘hands down’!

Profhilo is a relative new kid on the block that has the advantage of jump-starting your own body’s rejuvenation process, and the treatment is promising to offer some tremendous results then used on the hands. The second treatment we use is Volite. Volite is not only a volumiser, it addresses skin quality and we all know that a luminous, healthy glow to the skin is anti-ageing. After use there is an absence of fine lines, a return of hydration and elasticity for up to 9 months.
