Botox®
Botox® is a safe non-surgical treatment which softens facial lines and 
wrinkles to create a more youthful appearance and is now the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment throughout the world.
Over time, because we smile and frown a lot, dynamic facial lines and wrinkles develop. Botox® is used to soften the appearance of these facial lines and wrinkles.
How Botox® works
Botox® works by temporarily blocking communication between the nerve and muscle and results in softening of facial lines. The effects of Botox® are seen from 3 days after treatment and last on average 3-4 months. After this time a re-treatment will be necessary to maintain the effects.
Where can you use Botox®
Areas treated include the:
- glabella (the smooth area between the eyebrows, just above the nose),
- forehead and
- crows feet around the eyes
Botox® is a prescription only drug and should only be administered by individuals with the appropriate training and qualifications. After a careful assessment the treatment itself involves the injection of minute amounts of Botox® in the specific anatomical regions. The injections are almost painless. Treatment takes approximately 15 minutes.
