Over time there is a gradual loss of collagen which results in the development of static lines and wrinkles on the face. Dermal fillers offer a non-surgical cosmetic treatment of these static lines and are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments performed in facial rejuvenation at our clinic in Taunton, Somerset.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers are clear gels that contain clinically refined non-animal hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in our body which helps hydrate and add volume to our skin. It decreases with age. Dermal Fillers offer a safe non surgical treatment to replace lost volume in static facial lines.
What Dermal Fillers do you use?
Three of the most scientifically researched dermal fillers are Emerval, Juvéderm ULTRA and Restylane and are three of the most popular dermal fillers currently used. Areas treated include the nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines), vertical lip lines, oral commissures (corners of mouth) and the marionette lines.
Dermal Fillers should only be administered by individuals with the appropriate training and qualifications.
What does having Dermal Filler involve?
A detailed medical history is taken to establish that there are no contraindications to treatment. Pregnant and breastfeeding women cannot have dermal fillers nor those who are susceptible to keloid scars. Those with an allergy to lignocaine (a local anaesthetic) cannot have the treatment. After a careful assessment the dermal filler is injected into the specific anatomical region. Treatment takes approximately 20 minutes.
Are there any side-effects to having Dermal Fillers?
Common side effects include redness and swelling, though these will settle after 1-2 days. Bruising can also occur.
When will I notice any difference from having the Dermal Fillers?
The effects are immediate and can last up to 12 months. After this period re-treatment may be necessary.
How much will it cost?
